Art and urban nature in Israel

Amir is the co- founder and director of the Jerusalem Bird Observatory (JBO) and the Jerusalem Gazelle Valley Park – Israel’s first community urban wildlife sites.

The JBO focuses on research, education and urban wildlife management programs. The Gazelle Valley Park is a large scale community based wildlife conservation project situated in the center of the capitol.

He is also the founder and project director of The Urban Wildlife Initiative, working under the auspices of the The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI). The initiative includes creating a national urban biodiversity database, running ecological surveys on a national scale, developing urban wildlife master plans and operating the two community urban wildlife sites.

He currently teaches a course in sustainable urban design at the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem.
